White Labrador Retrievers

White Labrador Retrievers or lets say the "Cream" Labrador to find a excellent puppy of this color can require some work to find the correct type.  Note: Some breeders are just breeding for color not for correct standard of the AKC, and they over look temperament and health.  Make sure the selected breeder, breed for soundness of temperament and body.  Make sure puppy parents have their OFA on hips & elbows done, and they have CERF done for the eyes and DNA for PRA as well for their eyes.

These white Labs are actually a light shade of yellow known as the "Cream".  There should be some yellow in the cream Labrador coat for the AKC standard.

This puppy has light yellow ears and light yellow down the middle of his back, yellow on his hock, and at the tip of his tail... He also has excellent pigment and nice brown eyes... he is correct to the AKC standard.  As he matures the yellow in his coat will become more evident, note most cream pups yellow will become darken as they mature, this is normal.

There are only three recognized colors of Labrador Retrievers in the AKC standard and they are black, yellow, and chocolate.  So, if a white Labrador Retriever or let say cream Labradors to be registered with AKC it is registered in the yellow color group since it is a light yellow Labrador known as a "Cream".

You will find the cream color Lab puppies from time to time at Servant dog kennel and you need to be patience in receiving one...

Servant's cream girls are, Flash, Mercy, Angel, and Mae.

Excerpt from the Labrador Retriever Standard from the AKC:

"The most distinguishing characteristics of the Labrador Retriever are its short, dense, weather resistant coat; an "otter" tail; a clean-cut head with broad back skull and moderate stop; powerful jaws; and its "kind," friendly eyes, expressing character, intelligence and good temperament.

Above all, a Labrador Retriever must be well balanced, enabling it to move in the show ring or work in the field with little or no effort. The typical Labrador possesses style and quality without over refinement, and substance without lumber or cloudiness. The Labrador is bred primarily as a working gun dog; structure and soundness are of great importance."
